The UK UPA runs a salary survey every year. It is promoted to members, subscribers to the UK UPA mailing list, and is generally promoted across the industry via various networks.
The Salary Survey aims to measure average salary levels and related information for professionals across the usability / HCI / Human Factors / UX industry. This is to help both employees and employers compare salaries against averages to help encourage fair remuneration across the industry. We compare the results against previous UK and international surveys to reveal trends in our field.
The survey data is completely anonymous with only two members of the committee having access to the raw data for analysis. We will not publish any information that could identify any individuals, for example where nationality or location is requested, this is in order to be able to identify trends within the UX community around nationality/location, and will not be directly associated with salary levels or job titles where this compromises anonymity.
You can access some summaries of past salary surveys here in PDF format. Some have been taken from the annual UX guide published by NMA. We will be publishing extended reports for the past few surveys over the next couple of months, with the intention of providing more detail and enabling comparison.
Global surveys are also conducted periodically by the Global UPA. Summary versions of the global surveys are available for download for free. More complete global versions are only available for members.
If you have any questions about these surveys please contact Chandra Harrison.
