London: Commercializing Usability Results & Mobile Media Download Challenges (Tuesday 21 February)
Scott Weiss presents on the challenges of quantitative usability studies and selling commercial research.
Scott Weiss, Principal of Usable Products Company, a New York City based usability consultancy that focuses on mobile phones and other handheld consumer electronics, will speak about their study of thirteen mobile telephones with respect to shopping, download, and use of ringtones, wallpapers, and games. This presentation will cover the challenges posed by quantitative usability study and how to sell commercial usability research. Scott will share some best practices and video highlights from some of the 260 hour-long usability interviews conducted for this project.

Biography:
Scott Weiss, Principal and Founder of Usable Products Company, is an Information Architect and author of “Handheld Usability” (John Wiley & Sons: 2002). Scott has worked in user centred design for 16 years, having helped with the design of the Macintosh UI, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook, and the Vodafone Simply handset. He worked in the software industry for seven years designing software and managing software projects prior to forming Usable Products in 1996.
