Making usability pay: effects of applying UCD principles at an online mortgage broker
Tom Wood and Tim Loo - both of Foolproof, the Norwich-based online sales consultancy - will present a case study of a sales improvement project which derived a dramatic return on investment from employing usability and user centred design techniques. Their talk will illustrate how familiar tools and techniques can be used to focus on business results.

About the speakers:
Tom Wood, Managing Partner at Foolproof, was previously Head of Advertising at Virgin Money, a role which made him very focused on improving conversion performance on e-commerce sites. He pioneered usability research at Virgin Money and has been planning, moderating and analysing qualitative research throughout his career. Before Virgin, Tom worked in advertising on the agency side at Ogilvy & Mather.
Tim Loo, Head of Consulting at Foolproof, cut his teeth as a consultant at the Australian financial services giant AMP. He spent over ten years within this organisation working on briefs across the world. In the UK, he had a senior role within the team running the investment portal Ample (formerly iii.co.uk). Tim is a Committee Member of the UK Usability Professionals Association.
