Development

We support ongoing training and development of usability & user experience practitioners in a variety of ways from formal training, mentoring, internships and short courses.

Formal training is recommended for technical knowledge, methodology and work-related skills. Internships offer hands-on experience and a venue to practice the knowledge acquired through training. As you progress in your career, you may need a mentor to refine skills or for career coaching. If you have any questions about where to start then contact us or be sure to talk to one of the committee members at the next UK UPA event.

The Professional Development role was inactive for some time, therefore our Professional Development Representative, Stavros Garzonis, is currently developing a programme to support members as well as the user experience community at large.

Stavros is building a list of academic courses that offer robust and recognised undergraduate and postgraduate training, as well as an informal list of short training courses that will help as an introduction to user experience research, analysis and design methods. As Stavros builds these resources please do contribute any information you can to ensure we have the most comprehensive resource possible – using the forms on those pages.

We are also keen to encourage professional collaboration in terms of helping to facilitate mentoring and internship and work experience programmes so get in touch if you think that is something you would like to contribute to or you think you could benefit from.

Contact Stavros for more information.
