UPA 2010 Conference - call for volunteers
We are building a team of friendly, committed volunteers to help with a variety of behind-the-scenes activities such as staffing the information booth, helping at the registration desk, and assisting session chairs and tutorial instructors. In return, volunteers receive greatly-reduced conference registration fees and the opportunity to interact closely with leaders in the User Experience field who will be attending the conference as speakers/presenters, conference planners, and participants.

The UKUPA is proud to invite William Hudson to give a talk providing insight to the challenges we, as technology focused specialists, face in designing for the average user.
This talk will be based on William’s short paper to the CHI and British HCI conferences in 2009 about his large-scale study of IT workers.
The application of empathizing-systemizing tests found that technologists have substantially reduced empathizing skills and consequently have real difficulty in appreciating that others do not understand technology in the same way they do.
